In a historic first, the Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC), Leh, organized a Mass Yoga and Meditation Camp at Siachen Base Camp as part of the ongoing International Festival of Yoga and Meditation (IFYM) 2026. Held at an altitude of approximately 12,000 feet above sea level, the event brought together officers and Jawans of the Indian Army, participants of the International Festival of Yoga and Meditation from India and abroad, Yoga experts, spiritual leaders, and students of Mahabodhi Residential School in a unique celebration of peace, resilience, mindfulness, and national unity.

The programme commenced with a warm welcome to all participants, followed by an address by Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena, Speaking on the occasion, Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena highlighted the importance of Yoga, Meditation, and Spirituality in modern life. He emphasized that true strength lies not only in physical power but also in inner peace, mental resilience, emotional balance, and spiritual awareness. He described the organization of a Yoga and Meditation Camp at Siachen Base Camp as a powerful symbol of humanityโ€™s aspiration for peace, harmony, and well-being even amidst some of the worldโ€™s most challenging environments.

Following the address, a special Yoga session was conducted by Swami Vachananda Ji, assisted by Yoga instructors and experts participating in the festival. Officers, Jawans, delegates, and students actively participated in the practical Yoga session, which focused on physical fitness, flexibility, breathing techniques, relaxation, and overall well-being. The session highlighted the relevance of Yoga for personnel serving in high-altitude conditions and demanding operational environments.

A major attraction of the programme was a spectacular Yoga Demonstration by the students of Mahabodhi Residential School, who showcased various Yoga postures and synchronized movements with remarkable discipline and confidence. Their performance received enthusiastic appreciation from the audience.

A special moment of pride during the programme was the presentation of a Certificate of Recognition from the Winners Book of World Records to the Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre. The recognition was awarded for organizing the International Festival of Yoga and Meditation and for conducting the historic Mass Yoga and Meditation Camp at Siachen Base Camp. The certificate was presented by Dr. Eesha Aggarwal, Chairwomen, Winners Book of World Records, and Dr. Deepak Harke, President, Winners Book of World Records, to Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena.

As a gesture of gratitude and appreciation, Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena presented commemorative mementos to Colonel Mukesh Pandey, VSM, Base Commander, and Colonel S.N.M. Diwan, Commanding Officer, 91 Field Regiment, in recognition of the invaluable support and cooperation extended by the Indian Army in making the programme possible. The organizers also expressed their heartfelt gratitude to all officers and Jawans of the Indian Army for their dedicated service and sacrifice in safeguarding the nation.

The Mass Yoga and Meditation Camp at Siachen Base Camp stands as one of the most significant highlights of the International Festival of Yoga and Meditation 2026 and reflects MIMCโ€™s continuing mission of promoting โ€œCompassion in Action, Meditation in Actionโ€ while taking the message of Yoga, Meditation, and Peace to some of the most iconic and challenging locations of Ladakh.
